Our first pattern!

A handful of people at the Michigan Fiber Festival asked for the pattern for the brown scarf that was hanging in our booth; after some polishing to make it more official-looking, here it is! Textural Scarf

It’s also available on Ravelry here.

It’s an easy pattern consisting of just knits and purls, but it creates an interestingly-patterned basketweave.

It hasn’t been test knit, so it may contain errors. Feel free to contact us if you find one or have a question!

One year later

A year after our last look into the shop, we’ve rearranged and expanded and grown!

Red Heart yarns are still in the front room, along with our books and a few spotlighted items in the front window.

We’ve added Kraemer and Skacel yarns and fibers to our products, as well as some lovely small-farm Tunis wool for spinning. We also have Opal sock yarn and some Dark Horse yarns.

We’ve also upgraded the lighting in some of the main rooms not only in brightness but also in light “temperature,” to give truer colors.

Needle and notions boards

We’ve built our own display boards for our needles and notions; they’re easily rearranged when we get new or different items in and have to move things around. We also have smaller traveling versions of these that you’ll see at fiber festivals.

The notions boards are slowly invading the snack area!

A Look Inside

Saturday, January 3 was our opening day! It was raining heavily in the morning, but we had hot coffee and warm wool!

yarns by Red Heart
Our current stock of Red Heart yarns.

The front room of the shop contains products from Red Heart; our current stock includes With Love, Heads Up, Reflective, and Super Saver. There’s more on the way.

Other products that we sell.
Yarn, dye kits, and books

A view of the south end of the long room, showing some of our house-brand yarns, books, and Dye Studio in a Jar dye kits. (Above the dye kits you can see the glow of the knit hat that has Kreinik reflective thread knit into the brim.)

Wool and wool-blend yarns.
More books and Kreinik products.

At the north end of the long room we have Kreinik metallic and silk threads, more Copper Centaur Studios yarn, and yarn from Stonehedge Fiber Mill and Bartlettyarns.

We’re open Saturdays, Sundays, and Thursday evenings. Stop in for a visit; a nice knit hat or scarf is just the thing to fend off the chill while you wait for warmer weather.
